About Me
Who am I?
Hey there! My name is Steve Jones and I've been learning and writing games ever since the early 90's. One of my motivations during the early days was playing Wolfenstein 3D and wondering how they did all that cool stuff. Well it was cool by standards at that time! Currently I am a teaching assistant for the Game Institute. If you are interested in learning the hard stuff please come join us! We have a very lively community forum where everybody offers genuine help and encouragement. I've found that some forums supply you with plenty of "know-it-alls" who like to bash you for even asking such questions. Well, you won't find that at the Game Institute. I don't get paid to advertise for GI by the way! I just think their courses are very thorough and their instructors are very helpful.
Currently I work for a large company as a software engineer. Our company has something to do with printers among other computer related things. While I've never worked in the game industry I have been a very enthusiastic game developer hobbyist for many years.
Why did I make this site?
I wanted to give back, plain and simple. Knowledge puffs up so I think its time to share what I've learned over the years. Most, if not all, of the articles, tutorials and sample code were authored by myself but I'm always open to great samples and tutorials from others. I'll also add that a few sites have been an inspiration to me and you will find them on my links page.
So welcome fellow game programmer and I hope you find some usefulness with this site!
Steve Jones
